Third Time’s A Charm
Congratulations to David Bottensek of Pleasant Hill, Oregon, the first winner in the Oregon Lottery’s monthly prize drawing. Notifying David of his prize had us a little puzzled at first, after he failed to respond to two of our e-mail attempts.
“I almost missed your e-mails,” said David, who hadn’t checked his e-mail for days.
But our persistence paid off and everything turned out fine after he promptly replied to us on our third attempt. David selected as his prize, the ten St. Patrick’s Day RaffleSM tickets, plus the 105 Powerball® free plays. He chose the Raffle tickets and the Powerball free plays over the other prizes because of the chance to win big jackpots. Asked how he entered the monthly drawing David replied, “I was on your Web site checking the jackpot numbers for Powerball and Megabucks® and noticed the monthly drawing banner. I thought it would be cool to enter.” David also mentioned that he likes playing jackpot games from time to time. He really enjoys Win for LifeSM because of its great odds and numerous ways to win. “Win for Life gives you more chances to win more prizes. It’s a good ticket,” he explained. Thanks David and good luck on your next game.
Morning TV Watching Provides Raffle Excitement
Just moments after watching the live broadcast of the winning number for the $1 million prize in the Nov. 24 Thanksgiving Raffle drawing, Ellie Combs of Lake Oswego called the Lottery office in Salem to say, “I think I have the winning ticket!”
Ellie proved she was right on target, when she presented her winning $1 million Raffle ticket for validation that afternoon. The winning number for the $1 million prize was 041283. Ellie purchased her winning ticket at Safeway #1047, in Lake Oswego.
The winning number for the $1 million prize, the 10 prizes of $20,000 and the 1,000 prizes of $100 were revealed at 8:38 a.m., at a public media event held at the Oregon Lottery on Nov. 24. Ellie was watching the live broadcast when the number matching her ticket was announced. “I thought I recognized the numbers. I was just hoping they were in the right order,” she said.
“Summer Vacation Results in Big Prize”
A summer vacation in Gold Beach paid off in a big way, when Bill Kinkade of Nevada matched all six numbers in the Aug. 12 MegabucksSM drawing, for a $12.2 million Megabucks jackpot prize.
Kinkade chose the Investment Plan for payment, when claiming his prize at the Lottery office in Salem, on Aug. 17. The Investment Plan for payment gives the player a one-time payment equal to one-half the advertised jackpot. Kinkade received a prize of $6.1 million before state and federal taxes were withheld. Kinkade became the Oregon Lottery®’s 222nd Megabucks millionaire. He purchased his winning ticket at the Crows Nest, in Gold Beach. His winning ticket was one of 14,815 winning tickets from the drawing.
Kinkade was on a fishing/camping trip with his wife in Gold Beach, when his wife took some time to do laundry. While his wife was busy with the laundry, Kinkade paid a visit to the Crows Nest to pick up some Megabucks tickets. Kinkade manually selected 10 sets of numbers. The winning numbers were 3-12-16-17-27-31.
Kinkade, who also enjoys playing Powerball, says more traveling, fishing trips and a possible new boat top his list of things to do with his prize money. Overall, Kinkade becomes the 269th Oregon Lottery millionaire.
“Hey Mom! Look What I Got!”
Megan Bartlett of St. Helens says she enjoys playing Oregon Lottery® Scratch-itSM games as much as her mother does. “My mom plays all the time. She won $100 playing ‘Ringo,’ and has been playing it since,” said Megan. Well, Megan’s mom pointed her in the right direction.
Megan got her own “Ringo” Scratch-it ticket, and after matching all the numbers on “Ring 1” of her ticket, she
won a $1,000 prize.
“Incomplete Sentence”
If you were handed the words “trend,” “dozen,” “epilogue,” “doll,” “cob,” “pod,” “lobster,” “pet,” “sting,” and “edge,” you might have a hard time coming up with a sentence that makes sense. If you found those 10 words on an Oregon Lottery® Scratch-itSM ticket, as Jeff and Vanessa of Corvallis did, they might lead to a number of sentences.
Some of the sentences traveling through Jeff and Vanessa’s minds could have been: “This is great!” “This is unbelievable!” “This is fun!” and “This is exciting!” Especially when they realized they had uncovered 10 words on a “Super Bonus Crossword” Scratch-it ticket, and had become $25,000 top prize winners in the game.
Jeff and Vanessa joined the big club of Oregon Lottery Crossword theme Scratch-it winners who have won more than $65 million in prizes since the first Crossword theme Oregon Lottery Scratch game made its debut in 1999.
“The Excitement Just Grew and Grew”
Washington residents Dave and Deborah, can now find their names on the list of Oregon Lottery® Powerball® winners, after claiming a $200,000 prize from the June 10 Powerball drawing. The Vancouver couple matched five of six numbers to become the 302nd Oregon Lottery winners of the Match 5 prize.
Dave and Deborah used the Quick Pick method to select five sets of numbers for the June 10 drawing, a $5 ticket. In the fourth set of numbers they matched all five white balls. The winning numbers were 15-26-27-42-58. The winning red Power Ball number, which they did not match, was 37. The winning ticket, one of 9,258 winning tickets for Oregon Lottery Powerball players in the drawing, was purchased at TJ’s Xpress, in Portland.
Dave said he recognized a couple of the winning numbers when he checked the results from the June 10 drawing. “Then I thought there were a couple of my other numbers there.” He wasn’t sure how much the prize was for matching five numbers, but it didn’t take long for Dave to realize he was a $200,000 winner. When he told Deborah, she told Dave to calm down until they were sure. Once she realized they were $200,000 winners, Deborah said the excitement just grew and grew. That excitement was apparent when the couple received their prize at a presentation at the Lottery office in Salem, on June 11.
“To Doubt, Or Not To Doubt”
After moments of doubt and wondering, Harold Hickingbottom of Warren finally decided that he was, indeed, a $50,000 Win for Life winner. “I think there’s always a little bit of doubt that you won,” said Harold. “I’m feeling pretty neat right now. It is really real. I won.”
Harold purchased his winning ticket at 7-Eleven #23153, on SW Murray Blvd., in Beaverton. He had his ticket for nearly a month before he had the opportunity to check it at one of the Lottery retailers.
Now that the “wondering” is over, hear Harold’s story about his winning experience by clicking on the “Audio” icon below.
It was tear drops for Suzanne Glass of McMinville, when she told her husband she had just won $10,000 playing the Oregon Lottery’s “Bingo Tripler” Scratch-it game. Suzanne had purchased four “Bingo Tripler” Scratch-it tickets at Kwik Food Deli, in McMinnville.
Suzanne’s husband thought something was wrong, when she walked out to the shop to tell him about her big prize. “I had tears coming down my face,” said Suzanne. Once he knew Suzanne was there about good news, they both enjoyed the celebration.
Suzanne had uncovered the four corners in one of the games on her Bingo Scratch-it ticket. “I’d won $100,” she said. Suzanne kept scratching her ticket and started shaking as an “X” was slowly being unveiled, and a $10,000 prize was in reach.

“Everyone Deserves A Second Chance”
Kimberli Franklin of Netarts felt she deserved a second chance, and when it came about, she had to pull over to the side of the road.
Kimberli’s second chance resulted in an Oregon Lottery prize of more than $11,000. She entered the “Mamma Mia” Scratch-it Second Chance Drawing for a chance to win a trip to
New York City. Kimberli was driving, when she received a cell phone call from Oregon Lottery representatives notifying her that she was the winner.
“I couldn’t believe it,” said Kimberli. Believe it or not, she felt the best thing to do was pull over to the side of the road, and find out “what was going to happen next.”
“What A Great Day”
“Wow! This is one of the best days of my life!” That’s how Craig Chamberlin of Salem summed up his experience in winning a $28,874 Keno Rolling Jackpot Bonus prize.
Craig, a regular Keno player, was playing at Sweet Milk’s Grocery, in McMinnville, when he matched all eight of his numbers on his $3 ticket. Craig normally uses his own personal numbers to mark his Keno play slip, but this time he says something told him to choose the Quick Pick method. “For once, I decided to be ‘a little wild,’” joked Craig.
Hear more about Craig’s “great day” experience by clicking on the “Audio Interview” below.
Becky Wagner of Beaverton was “a little taken back,” when she discovered she was a $1,780 Special Keno Multiplier winner. “I was unsure of what my reaction actually was,” said Becky. “Did I really get the winning ticket?” Becky added that she was “excited” and “happy.”
Becky’s winning ticket, purchased at King City Liquor, was a gift from her father. Becky says she has received Christmas “stocking stuffer” Scratch-it gifts from her father in the past. This time her gift was a Keno ticket. “I told him, “Thanks.’”
Find out what Becky plans are for her $1,780 prize. Just click on the “Audio Interview” below.
Robert Shaddy of Portland waited 40 days before he got around to checking his Lucky Lines ticket, and was very surprised when he discovered he was a $46,000 jackpot winner.
Robert purchased his winning ticket at Ira’s Deli, in Portland. He became the second Lucky Lines jackpot winner from Ira’s Deli. On July 7 of this year, Ira’s sold the winning ticket for a $34,000 Lucky Lines Jackpot.
You can hear Robert’s story of surprise and “feelin’ good” by clicking on the “audio interview” just below.
Phil Hunt of Medford says the anticipation of what you might win is part of the fun in playing Oregon Lottery® games.
The $1,000 “Triple Star Crossword” Scratch-itSM winner anticipates becoming an even “bigger” winner, and already has plans for that big prize. Hear more in Phil’s audio interview below.
Norel Hunt did not have her fortune read, gaze into a crystal ball or read the tea leaves at the bottom of her cup to discover good fortune. She simply had to rub the magic lamp, like the magic lamp on her “Aladdin’s Lamp” Scratch-itSM ticket, game #726, to find a $25,000 prize.
Norel was visiting from Glendale, Arizona, her first visit to Oregon since she was in the 7th grade. On the first day of her visit, she purchased an “Aladdin’s Lamp” Scratch-it ticket from Fred Meyer, in Clackamas. As she scratched her ticket, Norel uncovered three “Aladdin’s Lamp” symbols, making her an instant $25,000 top prizewinner.
Norel won’t have to worry about trying to find a magic flying carpet for transportation. She is going to be looking into purchasing a car. “Better than the bus,” she added, as she posed for her commemorative photo, and took the time to add her signature to the winners’ wall.
“Was it an illusion?”
The Random House College Dictionary defines “illusion” as “something that deceives by producing a false impression.” To Jodi Derrick of Portland, “illusion” is defined as one of 10 words he uncovered on his “Easy Money Crossword” Scratch-itSM ticket, game #697, making him a $15,000 top prizewinner. There was no illusion about Jodi’s big win, as he accepted his prize check and commemorative photo at the Lottery office. He knew it was for real.
Jodi purchased his winning Scratch-it ticket at C & L Market in Portland. The “Easy Money Crossword” Scratch-it game offers players the chance to win prizes ranging from $2 for uncovering three words, to the $15,000 top prize for revealing 10 words. Overall, the game has a total prize payout of over $3.4 million.
Jodi calls himself a “faithful” Scratch-it player, and especially enjoys the Oregon Lottery®’s Crossword and Bingo theme Scratch-its. Here is a great “Did you know?” Did you know that Oregon Lottery Crossword and Bingo theme Scratch-it players have won more than $350 million in prizes?
“At a loss for words”
Tanya Koch of Clackamas was at a loss for words when she found out she’d won a $10,000 “Flamingo Bingo” Scratch-itSM prize. “I can’t describe in words how I felt, when I heard I’d won,” said Koch.
Koch purchased her winning Scratch-it ticket at 7-Eleven #20175, in Clackamas. She uncovered an “X” on Card 4 of her “Flamingo Bingo” ticket. At first, Koch thought that made her a $100 winner. When she had her Scratch-it ticket checked by the clerk, Koch was told she would have to make a trip to Salem to claim her prize.
“I didn’t know why I had to go to Salem to collect a $100 prize,” Koch said. “I thought you had to go for prizes over $600.” Then the clerk told Koch she was a $10,000 winner. Once Koch arrived in Salem, she had no trouble expressing her feelings. “This certainly brightens up your day. I didn’t know how to act. It’s like having a dream you don’t want to wake up from.”
Koch, 19, enjoys playing Oregon Lottery® Scratch-its. “I will buy Scratch-its when we have a family get-together.” She also has given Scratch-its as gifts.
Stopping for a bite to eat turned into something much more for Mt. Angel resident Christopher Pistulka. He won a $39,857 Keno Rolling Jackpot Bonus prize at Frank-N-Steins Pub, in Mt. Angel, on Sept. 17.
Christopher was running some errands when he got a little hungry, and decided to stop for a burger and beverage. “I had a couple of dollars extra, so I decided to play a couple of games of Keno.” Christopher’s $39,857 prize was a combination of $15,000 for matching all eight of his numbers, and a $24,857 eight-spot Rolling Jackpot Bonus.
Christopher was watching the winning numbers for the second game on his ticket appear on the Keno monitor. He thought he had all eight numbers, but wasn't sure until he had the clerk check his ticket. “I heard all the bells and whistles go off,” said Pistulka.
Christopher, who enjoys playing Powerball®, as well as Keno, listed “becoming debt free” as number one on his list of things to do with his $39,857 Keno prize. A possible vacation and the opportunity go into business for himself, also made the list.
Nathaniel Herrell of Avery, Idaho, paid a visit to family and friends in Oregon. He left with the enjoyment of a great visit, and a $25,000 Oregon Lottery® Scratch-itSM prize.
Nathaniel and his girlfriend, Kattie, who was born and raised in Pendleton, were visiting the Pendleton area. They said they would often pick up Oregon Lottery Scratch-it tickets. They stopped at Dean’s Market & Deli, in Pendleton, and decided to purchase a “The Game of Life” Scratch-it.
After scratching his ticket, Nathaniel saw that he had matched one of the winning numbers. He didn’t notice the matching prize right away. Nathaniel continued scratching the rest of the ticket, and when he checked the prize amount, he first thought it was a $25 prize. “Then I saw all those zeroes after the $25. I knew I’d won big!”
Nathaniel’s $25,000 prize is one of the more than $1 billion in prizes Oregon Lottery Scratch-it players have won since 1985, when the Oregon Lottery introduced its first Scratch-it ticket.
Christy Nieman of Beaverton seems like a pretty flexible person, willing to make changes, when change is needed. Except, when it comes to playing Kicker? on her MegabucksSM tickets.
Christy, whose husband hasn’t always been ready to choose the “Kicker” option when buying Megabucks tickets, was ecstatic and “really” excited about her $3,371.20 Megabucks Kicker prize.
Christy and her husband play Megabucks twice a week, with a $2 ticket. “For $1 or $2 every week, it’s nice to dream awhile.” Christy’s husband bought a ticket for the next drawing, but he didn’t get “Kicker.” Christy says they purchased an additional ticket, at her request, with Kicker, which turned out to be the winning ticket.
Christy says that an extended camping trip with the kids, heads the family’s list of things to do with their prize money. How does Christy describe playing Megabucks? “It’s a fun dream.”
As Bruce Vrell was driving from Independence to the Lottery office in Salem, he thought about what he might do with his $1,000 “Crazy Crossword” Scratch-it prize. When Bruce arrived at the Lottery office, he had to readjust his thinking. He was going to have a little more prize money to work with.
Bruce thought he had uncovered nine words on his “Crazy Crossword” Scratch-it ticket, for a $1,000 prize. Actually, Bruce uncovered 10 words, and was advised he was an instant $15,000 top prizewinner. “I was quite pleased and surprised when I was told I was a $15,000 winner,” said Bruce. “I really haven’t stopped smiling.”
Bruce purchased his winning ticket at Moothart Market, in Independence. “When I had them check the ticket, they told me I had to go to Salem to claim my prize.” Bruce took his ticket home, and checked it once again. “As far as I figured, it was a $1,000 prize,” he said. “$1,000 was great. $15,000 is that much better.”
Bruce plans to take care of taxes on some properties that he owns. “This is really incredible. Overwhelming. It’s going to make my life a little easier.”
Don Passmore of Salem was attending a birthday party, where the party had a “Monte Carlo” type theme. “After you won a certain amount of money, you got a ticket that you could place in a drawing,” said Don.
Don won enough to be entered in one of the drawings, and when his name was chosen, he decided that five $1 “Stinkin’ Rich” Scratch-itSM tickets were the right prize for him. Don’s selection proved a good move on his part, as one of the five tickets made Don a $1,500 top prizewinner.
The winning ticket was purchased at Progress Liquor Store, in Beaverton. “My sister bought 10 “Stinkin’ Rich” Scratch-itSM tickets for the party, and she scratched the first five tickets herself.” Although his sister’s tickets did not provide her with a big win, Don said she was happy when he won his big prize.
“Truly A Special Prize!”
In the past, Derek Farrington has usually played a five-spot Keno ticket. Recently, he decided to make it a five-spot Special Keno ticket. “It’s the first time I played Special Keno. I just had to check another box,” said Derek. “It doesn’t cost any more.”
By playing Special Keno rather than regular Keno, and matching all five of his numbers, Derek’s prize jumped from $465 to $800. Derek enjoys Keno and has been playing the same numbers on a five-spot Keno ticket for years. “I always use the same numbers. They include my wife’s birthday, and my birthday.”
Derek, from Powell Butte, played 20 consecutive games at Guido & Vito’s Italian Eatery, in Redmond. In the sixth game on his Special Keno ticket, Derek matched all five of his numbers.
Derek, who also enjoys playing Powerball, took time while at the Lottery office in Salem, to pick up a couple of Powerball tickets for the next drawing. “I’ll be back soon,” he added.
Mary Gergel of Grants Pass was “kind of” watching the Keno monitor as she played 20 consecutive eight-spot Keno games at Romar’s Sports Bar & Grill, in Merlin. “I was busy, but I caught some of the numbers popping up on the monitor,” she said.
Mary saw some of the winning numbers during the sixth game she played, but didn’t see all of them. After the game, she noticed the eight-spot Keno Rolling Jackpot Bonus had been won. “I thought, ‘Darn, someone hit the jackpot.’”
A close look at all the winning numbers revealed to Mary that it was she who had matched all eight numbers on her eight-spot ticket, and won a $51,761 prize. “Just couldn’t believe it.”
Mary’s prize started with $15,000 for matching all eight of her numbers. Added to that was a $36,757 eight-spot Rolling Jackpot Bonus. Winning $4 from two other games on her 20-game ticket gave Mary her $51,761 prize.
Bend Resident Claims $200,000 Powerball® Prize
Michael Davis of Bend became the Oregon Lottery®’s newest Match 5 Powerball® winner, claiming his $200,007 prize at the Lottery office in Salem on Aug. 1.
Davis matched six numbers, without the power ball, in the July 30, Powerball drawing. His winning ticket is the 294th winning Match 5 Powerball ticket sold in Oregon. The Oregon Lottery has averaged better than one winning Match 5 ticket per month since the game began in 1992.
The winning numbers were 3-25-45-51-55. The winning power ball number, which Davis did not match, was 13. Davis purchased a $5 Quick Pick ticket, with five sets of numbers, at the Quick Way Market, in Bend. He won his big prize in the fourth set of numbers. He also matched two numbers, plus the power ball, in his third set of numbers. This added $7, for a total Powerball prize of $200,007.
Davis said he was “totally excited” about winning his big prize. “Oh man! This is great,” said Davis. He added that some day he is going to hit that sixth number, for the Powerball jackpot. “I went out the day after I won, and bought a ticket for the next drawing.”
Davis was accompanied to the Lottery office in Salem by his wife, and two of his three children. Plans for his prize money include: paying off his wife’s car, looking into the purchase of property to build a house on, and setting money aside for his children’s educations.
Six Million Dollar MegabucksSM Man is From Condon!
“I was so excited, I forgot to get a haircut,” said Gerold Banick, answering questions about what went on when he realized he had just become the Oregon Lottery®’s newest Megabucks millionaire.
Gerold, a Condon resident, matched all six numbers in the May 12, MegabucksSM drawing, to win a $6 million prize. Gerold bought a $10 Quick Pick ticket at Albertson’s #532, in The Dalles. His big win came in the fifth set of numbers. The winning numbers were 10-19-23-28-31-40.
Gerold chose the cash option for prize payment, and received a prize of more than $1.9 million, after state and federal taxes were withheld. He was accompanied to the Lottery office in Salem by his neighbors, Floyd “Digger” O’Dell and Digger’s wife, Norma. “Digger is my best friend,” said Gerold.
That friendship was apparent when Gerold presented Digger, who did the driving from Condon to Salem, with a $133,000 surprise. Gerold joked, “This was the most expensive cab ride I’ve ever had. I’m just glad I live on the west side of town and not east side that’s farther from Salem!”
A regular Megabucks player, Gerold also enjoys Powerball®. When Gerold had his winning Megabucks ticket checked at Albertson’s, he also had a winning $10 Powerball ticket. In addition to his gift to Digger and Norma, Gerold says he will take care of some bills, set plans in motion to provide a college education for his granddaughter, and “help out” some others.
Clackamas Resident Claims $6.6 Million MegabucksSM Jackpot Prize
Julie McMurchie of Clackamas became an Oregon Lottery® Megabuckssm millionaire, when she claimed her $6.6 million Megabucks jackpot prize from the March 12 drawing.
McMurchie matched all six numbers in the drawing to become the Oregon Lottery’s 213th Megabucks millionaire. Her winning ticket, one of 12,370 winning tickets from the drawing, was purchased at Clackamas Liquor.
McMurchie chose the Investment Plan for prize payment. The Investment Plan provides a Megabucks jackpot winner with a one-time payment equal to one-half of the advertised jackpot. She received a prize of $3.3 million, before state and federal taxes were withheld, in a presentation at the Lottery office in Salem on March 17.
An Encouraging Word
When Brenda King paid a visit to Albertson’s, on SE Sunnyside Road, in Clackamas, she just intended to do a little shopping.
“I just intended to get done what I needed to do.” Then Brenda’s daughter encouraged her to play Keno. “She enjoys watching me play.”
Brenda played a few games, playing a two-spot Keno ticket. “I played some of my husband’s favorite numbers.” Those numbers may now be some of Brenda’s favorite numbers, as she won twice on the same ticket. Brenda won a $550 prize, and an $1,100 prize.
Brenda’s plans for her prize money? “I think we’ll just do something special on Mother’s Day for my mom, and my husband’s mom.”
Darci Miller of Elgin enjoys playing Keno, usually a seven-spot ticket. She even has a few numbers that she often plays. One of those numbers is “45”.
Well, Darci was enjoying an evening at Sig’s Tavern, in Elgin, when she decided to play Keno. She marked her seven-spot ticket, then sat back to enjoy the evening, and hopefully, watch her numbers appear on the Keno monitor.
Darci played 10 consecutive games, and after the third game, she noticed the seven-spot Keno Rolling Jackpot Bonus had been won. Darci thought she had matched six of seven numbers. “I thought someone else had won,” said Darci. It was then that Darci noticed she had mistakenly played the number “35,” instead of the number “45,” making her the $16,117 winner.
The fact that Charmaigne and Wendy, a mother and daughter duo, were claiming and sharing a $62,257 Keno Rolling Jackpot Bonus Multiplier prize, added to the happy time. “This is fantastic! Unbelievable!” Charmaigne said she called home and said, “Something wonderful just happened!”
Charmaigne and Wendy played five consecutive games at The Pink Feather, in Portland. In the second game on their eight-spot Keno Multiplier ticket, they matched all eight of their numbers for a $15,000 prize.
Charmaine and Wendy chose to play the Keno Multiplier Option when they purchased their ticket. When the Keno Multiplier “2” was drawn for the game, their prize was doubled to $30,000. The mother and daughter also won a $32,257 eight-spot Keno Rolling Jackpot Bonus, to give them a total prize of $62,257.
Gresham Resident Starts New Year as Oregon Lottery® Millionaire
Dee Morgan started the New Year as an Oregon Lottery® MegabucksSM millionaire. The Gresham resident matched all six numbers in the Jan. 5, MegabucksSM drawing, and won the $3 million prize.
Morgan played a $5 MegabucksSM ticket that held 10 sets of Quick Pick numbers. In her second set, Morgan matched all six numbers. The winning ticket, purchased at Oak Grove Fred Meyer in Milwaukie, was one of 9,196 winning tickets from the Jan. 5, drawing.
Portland Resident Claims $5.2 Million MegabucksSM Prize
Gary Brown became an Oregon Lottery® MegabucksSM millionaire when he claimed the $5.2 million MegabucksSM jackpot prize from the Dec. 10, MegabucksSM drawing.
Brown matched all six numbers on his $5 MegabucksSM ticket. The winning ticket was purchased at Fred Meyer, NE Glisan, in Portland. Brown used the Quick Pick method to select 10 combinations of numbers. His eighth combination of numbers, 6-12-25-31-35-41, matched all six numbers from the drawing, making Brown the Oregon Lottery®’s 211th MegabucksSM millionaire.
A Penny For Your Thoughts & Prize
The Oregon Lottery® suggests that the “good ole” American penny is a great instrument to use when scratching Oregon Lottery® Scratch-itsSM.
Erin Anderegg took her lucky penny, a 1958 wheat-back penny, to her “Super Bonus Crossword” Scratch-itSM ticket, and ended up a $25,000 top prizewinner. “1958 is my father’s birth year,” said Erin.
The Molalla resident says it took her about four hours to scratch and play her “Super Bonus Crossword” Scratch-itSM ticket. “I was busy, so I would scratch some of the ticket, and then go back to what else I was doing.”
After uncovering 10 words, and a $25,000 prize, Erin’s four-hour effort works out to an hourly wage of $6,250, while working on her Scratch-itSM ticket.
Erin picked up the winning ticket at Liberal Country Store in Mulino, on the way to visit her grandparents. Plans call for Erin to use her prize money for school.
It’s Like An Extra Check
Sharon Nelson says winning her $17,000 Lucky Lines jackpot prize is like receiving another special check from the state of Oregon. “You know, sort of like those checks we’re supposed to receive later in the year.”
The Newberg resident matched all eight numbers on her $2 ticket, to claim the $17,000 prize. Sharon’s winning ticket was purchased at NAP’s Thriftway, in Newberg.
Sharon says she has enjoyed the popular daily draw Lucky Lines game since it began. “I enjoy playing each drawing,” she said.
Sharon discovered she had the winning numbers after paying a visit to the Oregon Lottery® Web Site, oregonlottery.org. “That’s where I always check my tickets.”
While I’m Waiting
Karla C. of Salem has won a couple of $1,750 eight-spot Keno prizes in the past. She says she is waiting to match all eight of her numbers, and win a Keno Rolling Jackpot Bonus. “I know it’s out there,” said Karla.
While waiting, Karla has enjoyed playing Oregon Lottery® Scratch-itSM games. Her patience paid off when she won the $75,000 top prize in the Lottery’s “Big Bucks” Scratch-itSM game. The winning ticket was purchased at Circle K #476, on Lancaster Dr., in Salem.
Karla uncovered a moneybags symbol, which indicates the player is an instant winner. “I saw the money bag, and scratched the matching prize. I just stared when I realized it was a $75,000 prize.”
Karla says that paying off credit card balances tops her list of “things to do” with her prize money. “That’s going to be a great feeling,” she added.
Nathan Dent could not find his package of cigarettes. “I figured I lost them somewhere.” So, he headed to Daisy Quik Shop, in Redmond, to pick up a replacement.
While there, Nathan, an occasional Scratch-itSM player, picked up a $5 Hot Slots Multiplier Scratch-itSM ticket. When he scratched the ticket, the Redmond resident, uncovered three diamond symbols, and won the matching $50,000 top prize for the game.
Nathan is not new to winning Oregon Lottery® prizes. In June of 2000, Nathan won a $1,207 MegabucksSM prize.
20 Times the Luck = $20,000 Scratch-itSM Prize!
To some, patience is a virtue.
To Lou Maes of Portland, it’s what he had while he waited for help at the Hawthorne Fred Meyer in Portland. Lou’s 20 Times the Luck Scratch-itSM ticket got stuck in the Oregon Lottery® Instant Ticket Vending Machine, and he stood by as one of Fred Meyer’s helpful customer service people freed the ticket.
That short wait resulted in a $20,000 prize for Lou. Lou matched the lucky number “48” in Game 7 on his Scratch-itSM ticket. He instantly won the matching $1,000 prize. When he scratched the Lucky Bonus box on his ticket, he uncovered “20X,” which multiplied his prize to $20,000.
Lou was in
disbelief when he showed the winning ticket to his wife. At first, she thought he had won $500, but Lou told her to “keep looking.” A closer look by his wife convinced her that Lou was a $20,000 winner.
$25,000 Scratch-itSM Winner!
Taking time before the Christmas Holiday to buy a “treat” for herself, resulted in a $25,000 Oregon Lottery® Scratch-itSM prize for Tiffany Hull.
Tiffany, from John Day, purchased a variety of Oregon Lottery® Scratch-itSM tickets from the John Day Liquor Store. On Christmas Day she scratched her tickets, and revealed a blackout on her Cherub Slingo Scratch-itSM ticket. The blackout made Tiffany an instant $25,000 top prize winner in the game. “I just couldn’t believe it,” she said.
Tiffany, who attends school while raising two boys, says fixing up her current car, or an upgrade to a different vehicle, tops her list of things to do with her prize money.
“...by the chimney with care.”
Remember that classic little part of the traditional holiday poem, Twas The Night Before Christmas, by Clement Clark Moore?
Manuel Mendoza of Portland has probably heard the poem before, and although his stocking wasn’t hanging from the fireplace mantle, he ended up with a great stocking stuffer to get the holiday season going.
Manuel uncovered two $300 prize amounts on his Oregon Lottery Stocking Stuffer Scratch-itSM ticket. When he also uncovered a “stocking” symbol, his prize was tripled to $900, the top prize in the popular Oregon Lottery holiday Scratch-itSM!
Manuel says Christmas shopping was at the top of his list of things to do with his prize money. As he left with his prize check and complimentary photo, Manuel was reminded to visit oregonlottery.org for a chance to win a holiday prize and to discover all the other great Oregon Lottery® holiday Scratch-itSM games available to play and to provide a special “stocking stuffer” for someone special.
